Taxi drivers are very common in a city. Almost everywhere you see these people. You might even have experience with them.

The life of a taxi driver is not merely as easy as it sounds. To be one, you will need to send dozens and even hundreds of applications just to get a taxi driving job. In many cities in the United States, taxi drivers must meet certain requirements before they can ever drive a vehicle.

Driving a taxi is a unique experience. All you have to do is sit however you need to do it for long hours and often times in the middle of traffic. Under these circumstances how does a taxi driver stay healthy?

First, you will need to understand that taxi driving is stressful in the first place. This job will require you to always be on the look out for possible accidents and you will need to do this for long periods of time. You deal with customers who are not always friendly. There are also some taxi drivers that neglect to sleep right. Therefore, if you are able to handle stress you'll be able to maintain a good health. During breaks, be sure to at least take quick walks or make a few stretches so as to loosen up your stiff joints and muscles.

Of course, the proper nutrition is also essential to keep a healthy body. This includes taxi drivers giving your body the proper nutrition means your supporting your health as a taxi driver, who might spend long hours in all sorts of weather, and under all sorts of stressful conditions.

Have a routine exercise. As a taxi driver, you will be required to only sit and drive your client to his or her desired destination. This tends to create all kinds of problems unless addressed. Muscle memory means that tension in certain muscle groups is fixed, do the long hours in that position. By being able to perform a specific exercise on a regular basis you'll be able to counter such problems.

Find some extracurricular activity that you enjoy and make sure you spend time doing that on a weekly basis. Keep in mind, that's time away from your taxi. Since this work will require you to stay in the vehicle for hours, there is a tendency that you'll always be wanting to be in a taxi. After all, that's where they make their money. As a taxi driver, you also need to spend time off work. The day off provides them with opportunity to stretch their muscles and joints.

As they say, patience is the key. Road problems and traffic are always present whichever city you may drive in. You'll never know when you'll have to reroute or not. Learn to be patient in this situation. Stress will be neglected if you are patient.
